In the floating tourist town of Galwen, mayor Burchard Cromby has discovered the nearby Mirelings; Toads blessed by the petty god Blugub that stand upright, are human-sized, and know how to speak. After finding their origin and subduing their god, Cromby has decided to put them to work gathering a potent moss called Galwen Grunge from the dungeon they dwell in.

The moss glows with a bright golden light for about an hour after it’s crushed. It seems to stop bleeding in its tracks, is more slimy and slippery than oil, and has been helpful for all manner of medicines, machine lubricant, and unfancy torch replacements.

Galwen once was a town known for its bog walls, floating buildings, medicine, and expansive alchemical marketplaces. The pitch-covered black walls stand in the middle of a pond; They protect the floating buildings and buoyant walkways of Galwen. The livelihood of most of its citizens now hinges on the sale of that golden gunk gathered from the grimy gulfs under the bog. 

The church opposes this use of the Mirelings; They serve Eryndor, god of death by hunting and death by old age. Their tenets have them observe empathy for all creatures who may pass away without purpose and give it to them, whether their deaths be to feed others or to live a long life. Priest Clover the Gibbering has publicly called for absolution for the Mirelings, but the other members of the town council aren’t so willing to give up a lucrative business endeavor. 

A location with one town, several shops, and two dungeons, one of them a small mega-dungeon with two floors. A focus on sandbox play rather than a set story.
